This game is simply put, astounding. Its customization of Armor and such is great. The skills you get do things you actually notice/ care about, and in coop its a fun kill fest with no interruptions. It has its share of flaws tho. The deep mechanics of the Charm system it has is nearly impossible to understand or figure out and they explain almost nothing about it. For me this is a great bonus because it allows me to experiment and find out for myself. For most though it will likely just frustrate. The level cap is 50 and if your playing online, by yourself or not, you can reach that in about 20 hours or so for me. You do have 5 classes that very a great deal, but as with a lot of games it doesn't seem to be balanced. Wile many may want to be a berserker, or a defender, those don't work in the general sense. The game seems to be built mostly around multiplayer games, and characters like the bio engineer, the only character who regenerates and can heal (to a small extent) has many skills that alone do fine but are much more noticeable with more people. The berserker when compared to the commando who specializes in guns and ranged combat doesn't seem to hold a candle to it. The defender who seems to be built as a tank for absorbing and distracting, doesn't actually attract anyone as there seems to be little or no aggro system. However this all seems to be balanced a great deal by the fact that dying means very little in this game. When you die a valkerie comes down and picks your body up and carrys it up into a portal like thing. As soon as she disappears into it you appear full health about 50 yards from where you were, no progress lost what so ever no game over. the only down side to dieing a whole lot is that after say 20 or so deaths your armor starts to break. This poses little problem as at anytime you can return to town and get all of your items repaired. Witch brings up Money. Money is termed Bounty in Too Human and you can get it by picking it up or by salvaging items witch you can do anywhere at any time. You can also use your bounty to craft craft more advanced weapons and armor if you've found the blueprints for it. You can do this too at anytime. You can use it at town to buy armor weapons, repair your equipment, or buy runes and color runes , witch you use to color your armor.
Besides Class, you also have the choice of being cybernetic or human after you finish the first mission. This gives you a totally separate skill tree to advance in. Cyborgs gain bonuses to armor, Ammo and damage, while humans gain bonuses to combos, ruiners( a special move based on your weapon that does vast damage at the cost of your combo meter) and the like. You also get a Spider ability and a Battle cry based on what class you are and what path you follow in said class. Spider skills vary from shields to anti missile turrets to cannons and laser turrets to mines. Battlecrys usually either boost a stat such as ballistic damage or heal you and your allies.
Another boldly unique thing about Too Human is the controls for melee attacking. Rather than spend all day button mashing too human introduces the player to joystick mashing. Wile not one of a kind in concept, in action it has nuances that make it fresh. However for many as I have seen this becomes very frustrating. As one joystick is for attacking with melee and aiming ranged, and the other is used for movement, there is no way to rotated the camera witch at times forces you to fire blind at things you can't see. If you have a second you can hold still for just a moment and the screen will reorient to where your facing.
Regardless of class, type , path or level, if you play Too Human be prepared to die A LOT. When playing alone in campaign or online, you almost always face hoards of enemies that are extremely difficult. All the enemies are mechanical so there's no type bonuses for damage, and often they will be near immune to either melee or Ranged attacks. As an added challenge the enemies level with you, meaning no matter witch of the 4 missions you play they will be close to your level. However this is likely a result of the ability to take your character back and forth between Campaign and online.
Over all Too Human has become one of my favorite games of all time. This is a game you should try no matter the end result.
